Britt Ackerman, Associate

PRACTICE AREAS
Criminal Defense, Family Law, Juvenile Law, Administrative Law, Guardianship/Conservatorship, and Civil Litigation

Britt earned a Bachelor’s degree in political science from Carleton College in Northfield in 2000.  There, she was active in student and college governance as an appointed member of the Budget Committee and an elected official of the College Council.  She was also a weekly columnist and editor for The Carletonian, the student newspaper.

She chose to stay in Northfield to work for the firm after graduating from William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, citing the "energy, expertise and impressive network of attorneys."

"We provide excellent legal service because we are a partnership - everyone is involved in cases.  At this firm you get a greater quality for your billable hour than you would with a big city firm," she says.

Britt is a council member of the Minnesota State Bar Association's Criminal Law Section.  She also blogs for "JD's Rising," a division of the Minnesota Lawyer.  Her articles are found at minnlawyer.com/jdr.

Intellectually driven, Britt finds the legal profession fits her well because it allows her to be a student for life.  She enjoys poring through legal paper work and absorbing information from newly published cases to stay current on the law.  Though bookish behind the scenes, attorneys at the firm call her fearless at the bench.
